Transforming Section of 28th October Road: An Urban Renovation Project

This construction project has to do with the regeneration of a section on 28th of October street which is located within the urban fabric of the city of Pyrgos. The intervention was determined from the height of Bizaniou Street to the height of the junction of the street with Riga Feraiu Street and includes the reconstruction of the existing sidewalks and the road surface of the street with particular emphasis on the sections in front of the 2nd primary school of the building of the Regional Unit N. Ilia and the junction of Bizaniou Street, lighting fixtures were installed as well as tree planting.


More specifically, the project includes:


  • Removal of all existing concrete pavement slabs

  • Blind guide plates were installed.

  • New assembly of pavement sections were configured at the intersection sections of the street.

  • Milling of road surface, formation of road underpass using brittle material and sand as well as coating of final surface with cobblestone.

  • Construction was done on the borders of the sidewalks, concrete curbs.

  • The wells were relocated and gratings were installed.

  • Disabled ramps have been configured

  • Gutters of the adjacent properties on the street were connected by means of manholes, with a central catchment channel, which channels the rain into a culvert.

  • Adjusted the elevation differences between the grid

  • Disabled parking spaces available

  • A protective railing was built in front of the 2nd Primary school.

  • Marking signs have been installed.

  • Micro-waste bins were designed and painted with anti-fungal and insect protection materials.

  • PPC's overhead network was undergrounded.
